Windows Server 2012R2 - Remote Desktop Gateway Access Via Windows 10 App

Windows 10 has a Remote Desktop App that you can use to connect to your Microsoft Windows Remote Desktop Server.


The instructions below assume that you are connecting to your Windows remote desktop via a connection broker but naturally it will work for simple RDP connections.


To get the app you need to go to the Windows App Store and download it. It is free.



Once in the App Store search for Microsoft Remote Desktop 


Once you install and open the application you will see the following screen.

Click on the "Access RemoteApp and Desktop Connections" link 


Enter in the URL of your Resource Web Feed. This will take the form of "https://" + some server address + "/RDWeb/Feed/webfreed.aspx"

For example it could be 



Press Connect - You will then be presented with a Credentials windows

Enter in your credentials in the format of domain\username and enter in your password. 



If you connect successfully you will get the following message showing you the desktops and applications you can access.


At the start screen you will notice that your desktops and applications are now showing


If you click on the "Full Desktop" above it will open up a connection to the Windows Remote Desktop Server.
