Windows 2012 - Remote Desktop - Changing Passwords

Unfortunately with Windows 2012 Terminal Server there is no easy way a user can change passwords.

The standard method is to us the following key combination but this is difficult for users to remember:

CTRL-ALT-END

In other words press the following keys at the same time:

  • ALT Key
  • CTRL Key
  • END Key

To supplement this method you can create a desktop shortcut with a small amount of VBS script to launch the windows security screen.

  • Create a text file called ChangePassword.VBS
  • Enter in the following code:

Set objShell = CreateObject("Shell.Application")
objShell.WindowsSecurity

 To Change Your Password:

Double click on the desktop icon or press the key combination ALT-CTRL-END
