How to use the SkyNox client options menu (Mac)

    How to use you the SkyNox client options menu.
  • Applicable to

    All SkyNox Mac workstation accounts
  • Prerequisite

    • You must have a desktop backup license with SkyNox.
  • How to

    1. Click on the SkyNox icon at the top right of the screen. Click on Preferences.



    2. Enter your password in the Password field.



    3. General tab:



    The Backup Items window displays the files and folders that are currently configured to be backed up. Add or remove items using the + and – buttons.


    Keep up to (1, 3, 7, 24, 28) versions of each file backed up
    Wait at least (0, 2, 4, 8, 12, 24) hours between versions
    Backup (anytime or only when idle)


    The Exclusions window displays the file extensions or folders that you do not wish to be backed up. Click on the Cog button to add or remove excluded items.


    4. Blockouts tab:



    Click on the periods of time at which you wish to exclude SkyNox from making backups.


    5. Network tab:



    If you are required to go through a proxy server, check the Use a secure web proxy server (https) box and enter your proxy settings in the appropriate fields. Ask your network administrator for your proxy settings.

    6. Advanced tab:



    Suspend backups: if turned on, backups will pause if the client application detects keyboard or mouse activity.


    Require a password to access preferences: If you wish to pose an action in the client application, you must confirm your identity.


    Automatically launch Backup Client when you log in: when you log into your computer SkyNox will automatically launch.


    CPU Throttle: Running a full speed backup could slow down your computer, you may wish to scale down the SPU usage to have less of an impact on your computer’s performance.


    When running on Battery: (Normal Performance, Conserve Battery, Suspend Backups)


    Animate menu item: choose if you wish the SkyNox menu to be animated or not.


    Automatically check for updates: (Frequently, Normally)
