How to Activate a Blackberry using Wireless Enterprise Activation

Synopsis:This guide will show you how to activate your BlackBerry using Wireless Enterprise Activation for Exchange.

Applicable to: All Austlink Plus 2010 hosted Exchange accounts.

Prerequisite:
- an Austlink Plus 2010 hosted Exchange account.

- a BlackBerry device with wireless cellular service and an accompanying plan.

- BlackBerry Enterprise Server with a wireless carrier?
Make sure that your wireless account is provisioned for BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES), which is different than standard BlackBerry Internet service (BIS). You can validate this on the handheld in Options – Advanced Options. If the Enterprise Activation option is not there, contact your wireless carrier and ask for the handheld to be provisioned for BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES). You will need your PIN and IMEI numbers. To find them, go to Options – Status on your BlackBerry device.

- a BlackBerry software version 4.0 or above?
You can validate this on the handheld in Options – About. If you wish to upgrade your software version, contact your wireless carrier and request the latest client software for the handheld. Please note that the 900 series of handheld (i.e. R957) has a different versioning system. Software version 2.7 on this series is equivalent to version 4.0 on newer devices.

- a good wireless signal strength (greater than -90dBm)?
You can validate this on the handheld in Options – Status page. The smaller the number, the better.

 

How to:
1. Activate the device in the Control Panel? Please refer to “How to activate a Blackberry” in the menu on the left.

2. On your device’s desktop, select Options.

 

3. Select Advanced Options.

 

4. Select Enterprise Activation.

 

5. Enter the email address and activation password (see note below) provided when you enabled the service in Austlink Plus’s Control Panel.

 

6. Press the Menu key and select Activate.

 

7. Once activation is done, an Activation Complete pop-up window will appear. Click on OK.

If you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.

NOTE: This activation password is only used to activate your mailbox. It will be rendered invalid after three unsuccessful activation attempts and it will expire 30 days after creation. Once the handheld is successfully activated, the password is removed from the BlackBerry Enterprise Server. A new activation password can be generated at any time by disabling and re-enabling the service in Austlink Plus’s Control Panel.

 

How to Enterprise Activate a New OS 6 BlackBerry Phone

Synopsis: This guide will show you how to activate your BlackBerry using Wireless Enterprise Activation for Exchange.

Applicable to: All Austlink Plus 2010 hosted Exchange accounts.

Prerequisite:
- a Austlink Plus 2010 hosted Exchange account.

- a Blackberry device with wireless cellular service and an accompanying plan.

- BlackBerry Enterprise Server with a wireless carrier?

To fin IMEI, PIN and version number in BlackBerry OS 6, go to the All apps screen; select Options; select Device; tap Device and Status Information; the PIN will be listed in the second row of information; the IMEI number will be listed in the second row of information, right below the PIN. Alternately, you can type MYPIN in any message field, then press Enter and the PIN number will appear.

4. Select Enterprise Activation.

5. Enter the email address and activation password provided when you enabled the service in Austlink Plus’s Control Panel. (see note below)

6. Press the Menu key and select Activate.

7. Once activation is done, an Activation Complete pop-up window will appear. Click on OK.

How to Enable Email Subfolders Synchronization on a Blackberry (Exchange 2010)

Synopsis:This guide will show you how to enable synchronisation of subfolders on your Blackberry.

Applicable to: All Austlink Plus 2010 hosted Exchange accounts.

Prerequisite:
- an Austlink Plus 2010 hosted Exchange account.

- an activated BlackBerry. To know how to activate your BlackBerry, please refer to the “How to activate a BlackBerry” from the menu on the left.

- a wireless account provisioned for BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES)

 

How to

Note: By default, subfolders will be empty and will not synchronize.

1. Go to the Messages application on your device.

2. Press the BlackBerry key to open the menu and then select Options.

 

3. Select Email Settings.

 

4. Press the BlackBerry key again and select Folder Redirection.

 

5. Select the folder you wish to synchronize and press the central button to set redirection for that folder. Redirected folders will be in blue.

 

6. Press the BlackBerry key and select Save.

 

How to remove a Service Book from a BlackBerry (Exchange 2010)

Synopsis:This guide will show you how to remove certain service books from your BlackBerry device from your device itself and from the Control panel.

Applicable to: All Austlink Plus 2010 hosted Exchange accounts.

Prerequisite:
- an Austlink Plus 2010 hosted Exchange account.

- a BlackBerry device.

 

How to:

On the unit itself:

1. On the start screen of the unit, select the Options icon.

 

2. Press Advanced Options.

 

3. Select Service Book.

 

4. Select the Service Book you wish to delete.

 

5. Press the Menu key.

 

6. Select Delete for the Desktop (SYNC) service book, Desktop (CMIME), Desktop [CICAL] and finally the Desktop [ALP].

 

7. Confirm that you wish to delete the Service Book by pressing Delete.

 

In the Control Panel:

8. Log into the 2010 Control Panel (http://cloud.austlink.net).

 

9. Select the user for whom you wish to resend Service Books.

 

10. Click on Resend Service Book, located in the BlackBerry section.

 

11. Click on Yes.

Note: The Blackberry unit should start repopulating its service book shortly after that.

 

How to reset a BlackBerry activation password (Exchange 2010)

Synopsis:This guide will show you how to reset your BlackBerry activation password from the Control Panel.

Applicable to: All Austlink Plus 2010 hosted Exchange accounts.

Prerequisite:
- an Austlink Plus 2010 hosted Exchange account.

- a BlackBerry device.

 

How to:

1. Log into the 2010 Control Panel (http://cloud.austlink.net).

 

2. Select the user for whom you wish to reset the password.

 

3. Click on Reset Password in the BlackBerry section under Tasks.

 

4. Type your new password, then click on Reset Password.
